Here at Nrwl we strive to connect the best Angular engineers and architects in the community (as our team members) with those in the enterprise software space (as our partners and clients). From the beginning we have brought together some of the world’s best Angular thought-leaders, starting with our Co-founders Jeff Cross and Victor Savkin, and today we won’t stop. We want to work with more developers who are pushing the limits of their craft and developing great reputations as leaders in our field.

Today, our Toronto office is really taking shape and we have had the privilege of welcoming 4 more Angular experts onto our team, as Nrwlians, who we’ll tell you about today.

Nitin Vericherla, Angular Architect

Coming over to Nrwl from another fast-growth digital transformation agency in Toronto, earlier this year in 2018, Nitin is an experienced full-stack architect whose experience ranges across many company sizes and industries.

Over the last fourteen years Nitin has worked at a mix of successful startups, digital transformation agencies, telecomm and financial services enterprises, including one of Canada’s top five financial institutions, TD Bank. At TD Wealth Nitin led a team of developers across the stack on various high-visibility projects that dealt with precision pricing. At Rogers Communications Inc., a Canadian wireless communications, television and telephone giant, as their Application Development Lead, Nitin managed, hired and mentored the team’s developers, with a focus on Angular best practices.

While he was working agency-side, he worked with a technology enterprise that specializes in secure regulated business communications to provide them with company-wide git and node guidelines, working 1:1 with their team members, and setting them up for real-time features, which had a large impact on their overall engineering capacity.

Nitin knows architecture as well as the design of a solution. Agency-side, among many product development projects, Nitin worked with a American airline company to led a technical team on several projects. The first was a project to replace their main desktop website with a backed by a CMS and get their team ramped up on newer best-practices. The second was a mobile project to optimize their online flight booking flow, so that users could book their tickets end-to-end on mobile.

Having led and worked on large complex enterprise projects, he knows how to integrate existing systems with new products that have multiple layers of APIs and legacy systems that need to work together to achieve a business outcome.

Today, Nitin works with our enterprise clients across industries to help them more rapidly adopt the latest developments and best practices for Angular.

Everyone really enjoys working with Nitin because he knows how to get the job done well, with the highest standards. His knowledge of the enterprise context is especially valuable for our clients. A belated ‘welcome to Nrwl,’ Nitin!

Jason Jean, Sr. Angular Engineer

WELCOME TO TORONTO!

Having initially joined Nrwl in March 2018, Jason recently relocated from New York City and is now with us in our Toronto office, for his first time living in Canada. Nrwl is excited to have Jason here in Toronto!

Prior to working at Nrwl, Jason worked at Forbes as a Senior Software Engineer where he worked on several iterations of the Forbes site. He led the effort to rewrite Forbes desktop article page with a focus on page performance and server-side rendering using Angular Universal.

As a member of the Angular Universal team, Jason wrote the express engine for Angular and also designed and partly implemented the Angular CLI’s handling of Universal. Jason contributed major features after Angular Universal was integrated back in Angular version 4. He wrote the Angular Express Engine which provides a simple way to allow Angular to handle the rendering of requests. He helped to design and implement the ability for the Angular CLI to build a distributable for servers and allow developers to get started working with Angular Universal easily.

To date, Jason has worked with some of our largest enterprise clients in finance and telecomm in the United States. He has worked with many of our clients on server side rendering with custom elements, worked with ngrx and smart/dumb components, and helped them transition to a monorepo.

In addition, Jason has been instrumental in his leadership on building out Nx, from upgrading from 1.0.0 to 6.0.0, to adding Jest and Node support to our product. (We can’t wait to share more new features for all our products!)

Today Jason shares his knowledge of Isomorphic Javascript and Angular Universal by giving talks at conferences such as Angular Connect and ngAtlanta, and has been a guest on the popular podcast Angular Air.

Jason is passionate about using his knowledge to help clients by giving support and making tools to help them. Get to know Jason by following him on twitter.

Benjamin Cabanes, Angular Engineer

Having moved recently from Montreal to Toronto, Benjamin is an experienced Angular Engineer who has worked in both France and Canada. He joined Nrwl in August 2018.

Previously Benjamin was front-end team lead at Guavus, where he powered and empowered change inside the team so they could build more standardized and optimized applications.

As a Front-end developer, Benjamin has worked in agencies as well as startups and product companies, and has built many applications. Portable North Pole (.com), was a web application that he built which supported more than 15 million users during Christmas time. The web application was entirely created in JavaScript, using Angular with TypeScript.

Here at Nrwl, Ben has been working his magic with our developer product, NX. (For information on more of our developer tools, visit nrwl.io/products).

Get to know Benjamin by following him on twitter. We’re so happy to have you on the team!

Jack Hsu, Angular Architect

Jack is our newest Nrwlian, having joined us this month, and he is an experienced Angular Architect who has been in the web development field since the early 2000’s. He is interested in client-side applications, Functional Programming and Reactive Systems.

In conversation with Jack, he explained his approach to his work as follows:

“I draw my inspiration from other programmers and designers that design and build beautiful software, from American computer scientist Alan Kay (for his work with smalltalk) to interface designer Bret Victor.”

“My approach is to have a good balance: work versus life, idealism versus pragmatism…. For example in software, beautifully designed software that does the wrong thing isn’t useful, and useful but badly designed software isn’t maintainable.”

Jack has a good UI/UX design sense, with a keen ability to take a product from ideation to execution.

Having worked in various companies and industries, Jack is well-versed in all parts of the software world. Jack worked at The Globe and Mail, financial software firm: Wave Accounting, in cancer research at the OICR, and most recently for Pressly Inc., where he experienced the fast-growth startup journey, when they were acquired by Vision Critical.

You can find Jack on twitter. Welcome to Nrwl, Jack!

With our strong and growing team here in Nrwl’s downtown office, we are looking forward to continuing to support our clients with the most informative and expert-level consulting, training and engineering possible, as well as building out more features for our developer products.
